University of Milan Bicocca, situated in the district,
was chosen by the City of Milan, in September 1993,
for the establishment of new university campus in the city.
Established in 1998, designed by Vittorio Gregotti
currently has about 30,000 members.
The University is characterized by complex red and
from regular windows with white frames. The district
Bicocca, in which years ago was a highly industrialized area
now presents itself,
after being recovered, as
the core of new poles and functional core of
scientific and cultural centers of the highest level .
Bicocca Project covers an area
over 960,000 square meters and is
the largest urban re-development in Italy and
the second in Europe, after Berlin.
Among the works that have shaped the post-modern style
the quarter include:
the University of Milano-Bicocca,
the Teatro degli Arcimboldi, research centers, the headquarters
from various companies, film Bicocca Village
new housing.
